The course will give the students an in-depth knowledge of conducting skills, music performance, and a clear understanding of historical interpretation styles required for the pieces the students are working with.

COURSE CONTENT

  • Analysis and discussions on important works from different historical periods
  • Conducting theory and practical conducting exercises
  • Discussions concerning research on conducting and nonverbal communication
  • Conducting and interpretation of important works from different musical periods
  • Conducting masterclasses with ensemble
  • Conducting anatomy / conducting exercises
  • Conducting improvisation and movement improvisation
  • Tasks on conducting anatomy connected to current repertoire
  • Video analysis (individual tuition)
  • Rehearsal planning and rehearsal techniwue
  • Rehearse as you go/ nonverbal rehearsing and communication
  • Video analysis if time
