------------ The course begins with a review of the previous "Orchestration" which includes timbre, range and practical orchestration exercises and gradually leads into experiments in the 20th-century and contemporary music orchestration. Through the participation of performers and their performances, the course enhances the fundamental "inner hearing" and practical application of orchestration, providing useful skills for future works in composition, teaching or conducting. Through recording and live performances, students are expected to fully understand the range, overtone structures and fundamental-to-extended techniques of instruments, as well as the timbral combinations. Additionally, score analysis will be conducted to explore how composers from different periods utilized various instruments and notational methods, and to understand the interaction between aesthetics and techniques.
