16+2 weeks: The first sixteen weeks will instruct the concepts and knowledge from various sources (e.g., textbook, journal articles, and etc.) and the last two weeks will apply what have learned from the first sixteen weeks to evaluate the merits and shortcomings of various conference papers.

Formal lecture Text book, PowerPoint slides and video clips will be used to introduce the topics relevant to thesis writing
Cooperative learning Students will collaborate to discuss how to choose appropriate research methods for various research topics, how to interpret and report the result of analyzed data.
Lab/Studio Students will practice writing a thesis proposal
Grading assessment
Methods Percentage Notes
Assignments 50 % Students will be assigned a number of assignments for developing the final thesis proposal
Final exam 20 % A final exam will be given to test students comprehension level on the concepts learned from this course
Class discussion involvement 20 % Students are expected to attend each class, prepare discussed readings and assignments and actively participate in class discussions.
Attendances 10 % Class attendance is required. Please come to the class on time and notify the instructor ahead of time if you will be late or absent for a class.
